Surgery and aftercare for Stella
Donation protected
On Saturday, we all gathered for board games and John's house, but it all went south when the two dogs in attendance became agitated and got into a scuffle. Unfortunately, John's cat Stella was nearby and alarmed one of the dogs, who lashed out at her, got his mouth around her head, cutting her lip and breaking her jaw. Because this was the holiday weekend, Stella was rushed to the emergency vet where she was able to be fed via tube, and is now undergoing surgery at a specialist's office in Fort Collins.

Those who have had the pleasure of meeting or cat-sitting Stella know she is one of the sweetest and easy going cats there is. She is frequently known to sit on a convenient counter or shelf and reach to you with her front paws until you pick her up. Once in your arms, she has easy access to her favorite activity: licking your arms, face, and hair affectionately. Stella is a simple cat: she doesn't need fancy feather toys or fake mice. A rubber band or twist tie is all you need to excite this feline's fancy. She is a very talkative cat, well-behaved, and snuggly. Ever since John and Stella moved out of their 1 bedroom apartment into a house with two friends this year, Stella has been so much happier to have friends around all the time and a beautiful back yard to explore.

Unfortunately, all involved and all that were present at the board game party are grad students, and don't have a lot of extra cash. The dog's owner is able to chip in for a good portion of the cost of the care and emergency surgery, but the rest is a nasty surprise for a grad student who just started the semester (especially since CU still charges us about $1000-$1500 in fees a semester, #joinCRC to fight for a fee waiver!). Together, we hope to raise the remaining funds plus a little extra for aftercare overhead. The bill will be due probably this week, so we hope to have the funds ASAP to help avoid a hole in John's bank account.

Please help our friend John and beautiful Stella recover from this sad accident!
