Update: had another surgery and now dealing with a hurricane. We lost all our food during the last one and are still recouping that. We can’t catch up and put this surgery on my credit card. It wasn’t too expensive but help would be amazing! My copays for specialists are $95 and with my chronic illness, I end up seeing them all the time. Plus prescriptions. I do what I can to help the community so if anyone wants to help that would be amazing. I appreciate you!!

Had to do the surgery awake because it was thousands more for anesthesia. But I pushed through!

Previous: I was able to pay off a lot of credit card bills but never did raise enough for jaw surgery. It’s still a daily struggle with pain but that’s been on the back burner while I deal with my sinuses to help my breathing.

Original post: Hi all! I was hospitalized in February, 2023 due to a partial obstruction in my colon. I received a surgery in the hospital which did not fix the problem, and was referred out to a different surgeon. I was also reminded of my narrow/difficult airway while in the hospital, which prompted the need to get imaging on my jaw/airway, which you’ll notice in my payment screenshots. Since February, I have been dealing with multiple health issues. I am finally getting surgery on my colon in July, but we are not certain this surgery will fix the problem and we may need to go back in to remove part of my colon. I have been seeing an oral surgeon and was told I need surgery ASAP to resolve my narrow airway, which is a dangerous condition that causes trouble during other surgeries (I have been told multiple times that I am difficult to intubate). Unfortunately, I was quoted $50,000 for this surgery AFTER insurance so this is on hold. 

I have deteriorated jaw joints due to my arthritis so will need complete joint replacements and my jaw moved forward off my airway. I have also been told I have severe sleep apnea, which is causing lots of fatigue and can be very dangerous. 

These are certainly not my first health issues/surgeries. I have been dealing with stage 4 infiltrating endometriosis, arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, and more for my entire life. I have already had two procedures done under anesthesia on my jaw. I received a full hysterectomy in 2021 as well as stomach surgery in summer 2021. Insurance covered a lot of this but not all. They also operated on my bladder. Here is an example of the costs (like I said, thank goodness insurance covered most but they are actually still arguing some of these!)

 I’ve had nasal surgeries, cyst surgery, etc in the past as well. I spend thousands of dollars every year on medical costs. When I’m not sick, I volunteer for a cat rescue as much as I can. I have been a teacher since 2013 and always do what I can for my community. Unfortunately, all these medical costs have stacked up as credit card debt. Just as I pay off one bill, another comes. I am trying to raise money to pay off these bills before I receive more surgery, which I will likely need to raise money for as well. It feels awful to ask for help but I am drowning in medical bills. I will post proof in screenshots but please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. ANYTHING helps.
