Severus is our five month old French bulldog/pug who has had medical issues since we first got him. After only one week we noticed something was wrong with him. We brought him in to see a vet and we found out he had aspiration pneumonia and they highly suspected that he had megaesophagus. He was immediately started on three antobiotics and an antacid and since then, we've completely changed our life around and dedicated ourselves to this young pup. (Our kids have been helping out immensely as well).

We grind up his kibble and mix it with soft food to make small meatballs for him to eat and make knox blocks (jello cubes) as he can't have water. After feedings and after recieving his jello cubes, we hold him upright (now he has a special chair) for a minimum of fifteen minutes to ensure everything makes it down into his stomach without regurgitation. After five long weeks, he recovered from his pneumonia and we were overjoyed! However; it was short lived. After another week we brought him back to discover his pneumonia had returned even though we kept with his special needs.

The animal hospital and staff have been trying so hard to find out his underlying condition and while we thought we had answers, as time went on with Severus' case, we now have more questions than answers. His case is a unique one, but there is still hope for him yet. Severus could have a long and happy life if he gets a chance to see the specialists at Pullman University in the US.

An internal medicine appointment (including exam, fluoroscopy, and endoscopy) will likely cost between $1600-1700. Radiographs and labwork may add another $400. Boas surgery has been estimated between $3000-4000 and a hiatal hernia repair is between $4500-$7000. Even if we raised enough for one surgery, we would be so grateful. ❤️

We do have animal insurance, but unfortunately we got it too late as he now has a preexisting condition. We only had one week!

We know this is a lot. BUT we chose to fight for Severus and we're just not readu to give up. Anyone who has met him can see he's such a happy little pup who loves life and loves people. He deserves a chance at a long and happy life.

We have absolutely fallen in love with this little guy and it would devastate our kids and devastate us if this is how it ends. We just can't say goodbye now. Anything would help. Thank you ❤️
