I AM A REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE.

Hello dear helpers!

My name is Kaik Pimentel and I come from Brazil. I have been living in Europe, between Portugal and Austria for 5 years now. My partner is Austrian and for the last 3 years I have been able to call this beautiful country my home as well. At the same time, of course, my heart continues to beat for my country Brazil. I was born and grew up in Recife in 1993. Even as a child I was aware of the harsh realities of many others in Brazil, as much as my family did their best not to show that and to rather focus on gratitude and love. Since Recife is on the beach, I was often there and observed how people spent their time. It was the first time I saw people riding waves in the water. That's how I first came into contact with surfing. I was fascinated by the sport, the scene and all the people who surfed the waves so freely and without resistance. I was inspired by the power of the ocean and the beauty of nature. I started spending more and more time by the sea, I approached the surfers and wanted to get into the water with them. It was obvious, that I wasn't taken seriously at the age of 7-8. But I was motivated and didn't want to stop trying to become a part of these surfers. I just wanted to belong. For me, they symbolized freedom, goals, a sense of purpose, all things I hadn't thought about before. One afternoon on my way home, I saw an old surfboard lying next to the garbage cans, not far from the beach. It was split in two, one half destroyed but the other still intact. I didn't hesitate for a second and took it with me. I taped over the side so as not to cut myself on the sharp edge. I still remember how I couldn't sleep all night because I could hardly wait to go into the water with it the next day and finally learn to surf. And so it happened, I started surfing. When people ask me today how it all happened, I think it was a pinch of luck and a bit of talent and probably pure coincidence of being in the right place at the right time. It was a relentless pursuit of a better life and freedom that drove me. I got better and better and people started to notice me. I took part in competitions, got sponsors, won titles, both nationally and internationally. I became junior champion in my state. I got the opportunity to travel and do what fulfills me the most. I can now provide for my parents and fulfill my dream of living in Europe. It wouldn't do it justice to say that surfing has absolutely and completely changed my life. Surfing has given me a chance in life. And that's exactly the chance I want to give other children, so they can have a better future!

That's why I want to launch a project called SSP short for "Social Surf Project" to be able to help poor and neglected children in Brazil who want to learn to surf and practice this sport. Just as I started out and had an opportunity, every child deserves to have one. I want to promote and support the best talents in Brazil with my Social Surf Project. I would like to be there for those who would otherwise not receive any help.

The funds will be used to set up the project legally as a Non Profit Organization in Brazil similar to the "Italo Ferreira Institute" by Italo Ferreira, who is an olympic champion in surfing.

Further, we will get in touch with the Italo Ferreira Institute to benefit from their infrastructure and reach out to the children in need. Moreover, we will provide the necessary equipment for surfing and support for participation in competitions not only in Brazil but internationally. Through that we can help disadvantaged children and those in need to make a living through surfing, live their dream and get a chance in life. It is the wish closest to my heart to be able to realize these goals through this project.

ICH BIN DAS BESTE BEISPIEL.

Hallo liebe Helfer*innen!

Mein Name ist Kaik Pimentel und ich komme aus Brasilien. Seit 5 Jahren lebe ich nun in Europa zwischen Portugal und Österreich. Meine Partnerin ist Österreicherin und seit 3 Jahren darf ich dieses schöne Land auch mein Zuhause nennen. Gleichzeitig schlägt mein Herz natürlich für meine Heimat Brasilien. Ich bin 1993 in Recife geboren und aufgewachsen. Bereits als Kind waren mir die harten Realitäten von Vielen in Brasilien bewusst, so sehr meine Familie auch ihr Bestes gab, sich nichts davon anmerken zu lassen und den Fokus auf Dankbarkeit und Liebe zu setzen. Da Recife am Strand liegt, war ich öfters dort und sah zu, wie die Menschen dort ihre Zeit vertrieben. Ich beobachtete zum erstem Mal wie Leute im Wasser Wellen ritten. So kam ich zum erstem Mal mit dem Surfen in Kontakt. Ich war fasziniert vom diesem Sport, der Szene und den ganzen Menschen, die so frei und widerstandslos Wellen ritten, war begeistert von der Kraft des Ozeans und der Schönheit der Natur. Ich fing an mich immer öfter und länger am Meer aufzuhalten, ich sprach die Surfer an und wollte mit ihnen ins Wasser. Das ich mit 7-8 Jahren natürlich nicht ernstgenommen wurde, war klar. Aber ich war motiviert und wollte nicht aufhören zu versuchen, ein Teil dieser Gruppe zu werden, ein Teil von diesen Surfern. Ich wollte einfach nur dazugehören. Sie symbolisierten für mich Freiheit, Ziele, einen Sinn, alles Dinge, über die ich davor nicht nachgedacht hatte. Eines Nachmittags auf dem Heimweg, sah ich ein altes Surfbrett neben den Mülltonnen liegen, unweit vom Strand. Es war in zwei geteilt, die eine Hälfte zerstört, die andere aber noch intakt. Ich zögerte keine Sekunde und nahm es mit. Ich überklebte die Seite mit einem Klebeband, um mich an dem scharfen Rand nicht zu schneiden. Ich erinnere mich noch, wie ich vor Freude die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen konnte, weil ich es kaum erwarten konnte, am nächsten Tag damit ins Wasser zu gehen und endlich auch surfen zu lernen. Und so kam es, ich fing an zu surfen. Wenn man mich heute fragt, wie das alles passiert ist, denke ich, dass es eine Prise Glück und etwas Talent und wahrscheinlich reiner Zufall, am richtigen Ort zur richtigen Zeit gewesen zu sein. Es war ein unermüdliches Streben nach einem besseren Leben und nach Freiheit, was mich angetrieben hat. Ich wurde immer besser und besser und man fing an mich zu bemerken. Ich nahm an Wettbewerben teil, bekam Sponsoren, gewann Titel, national aber auch international. Ich wurde Junior Champion in meinem Staat. Ich bekam die Möglichkeit zu reisen, und das zu tun was mich am Meisten erfüllt. Ich kann heute für meine Eltern sorgen und mir den Traum erfüllen, in Europa zu leben. Es würde dem nicht beinahe gerecht werden zu sagen, dass Surfen absolut, voll und ganz mein Leben verändert hat. Surfen hat mich rausgeholt und mir eine Chance im Leben gegeben. Und genau diese Chance möchte ich auch anderen Kindern geben. Ich möchte es nicht dem glücklichen Zufall überlassen, dass Kinder eine Zukunft haben.

Aus diesem Grund möchte ich mein „Social Surf Project“ kurz SSP ins Leben rufen, um Kindern in Brasilien, die gerne Surfen lernen und diesen Sport ausüben möchten zu helfen, genau das auch zu können. So wie ich damals anfing und eine Möglichkeit hatte, genauso soll sie jedes Kind haben. Ich möchte mit meinem Social Surf Project die besten Talente fördern und unterstützen. Da sein für die, die sonst keine Hilfe erhalten würden. Angefangen beim Surfbrett bis hin zu Unterstützung zur Teilnahme an Wettbewerben, möchte ich sozial benachteiligten Kindern ermöglichen, ihren Traum zu leben und eine Chance im Leben zu bekommen.

Die Spenden werden verwendet, um das Projekt rechtlich als gemeinnützigen Verein in Brasilien zu gründen, ähnlich dem "Italo Ferreira Institute" von Italo Ferreira, einem olympischen Sieger im Surfen.

Außerdem werden wir uns mit dem Italo Ferreira Institute in Verbindung setzen, um von dessen Infrastruktur zu profitieren und die bedürftigen Kinder so zu erreichen. Zusätzlich werden wir die notwendige Ausrüstung für das Surfen anschaffen und eine Unterstützung für die Teilnahme an Wettbewerben bereitstellen. Dadurch können wir benachteiligten und von Armut betroffenen Kindern ermöglichen, zu Surfen und vom Surfen auch leben zu können.

Es ist mir eine Herzensangelegenheit, dieses Projekt zu verwirklichen. Ich danke aus tiefsten Herzen für eure Unterstützung. Es zählt die Geste, unabhängig vom Betrag. Ich bin für jede noch so kleine und große Hilfe zutiefst dankbar.
