Logline:
‘Jim’s Creamery’ has monopolised the meltable market on Manly’s shores, but a documentary crew uncover that smiles and sales are just the tip of the iceberg behind Jim Maccerei’s sweet success.

What happens to my donation:
We believe that our story is charmingly quirky ode to the Australian summer, and as such we want to do justice to our fun and wacky world when bringing it to life. Set design, and art design will be a large focus of our budget. We want ‘Jim’s Creamery’ to look like an ice cream vendor that you, the audience, have bought from before on a hot summer’s day.

We’re fortunate enough to have been able to assemble a crew of highly talented UTS media Arts and production alumni who have offered to give their time for free. However, a crew this talented, needs fuel to run off, as such your donations will also make it possible to feed a hungry film crew on set.

Words cannot describe how much we appreciate any and all donations, no matter the amount. Filmmaking is a privilege that would not be possible without your donations, so your support to do what we love means the world!

Where is Surf Wars going:
The main goal and dream for ‘Surf Wars’ would be for Tropfest. The world’s biggest Short Film festival deserves Manly’s biggest ice cream vendor, so that is our collective dream. ‘Surf Wars’ would also be entered into an array of film festivals both domestically and internationally, as we believe that it is a story that deserves to be shared and enjoyed globally!

About the Directors:
Oscar Armstrong and Luke Abraham have spent 5 years of friendship preparing to Co-direct for this short film. Having spent countless hours with each other consuming similar media and laughing at the same jokes which seem stupid to others (they are stupid), Oscar and Luke’s vision for this film align perfectly. Oscar comes from more of a technical, camera-based background, whereas Luke comes from a more storytelling, script writing background. They hold an understanding of the other’s skillset and workspace which allows them to bounce ideas off of each other to develop a strong well rounded final piece. They enter this project having prior experience directing and creating short films, music videos and ads both independently of each other and together.
