Surf Film, a short narrative film made by friends
Surf Film, a short narrative road movie made by Friends. :)
Written by Drew Miller and Jacob Breitinger
Directed by Drew Miller
Buddies have described the story as, "exquisite...painfully surfy" and " one of the most persuasive depictions of the banality of surf filmmaking" and "super rad, dude".
In many ways making this film is a community project. The setting and characters are based on a living breathing scene of surfers, artists and odd balls that inhabit the surf spots and beachside parking lots in our little coastal towns in Northeast Florida. Despite the title, this film is not a surf film. It’s more a behind the scenes look at a day in the life of a surf filmmaker. It’s a movie about overcoming creative obstacles, finding your voice and realizing that you are enough!
We are super close to production and many of the production elements are in place. We have a radical cast and crew lined up. Jake, Dustin Miller (our cinematographer) and I are financing the majority of the film and the rest of the crew is working on favors and or extremely reduced rates.
Your financial support will help cover the cover the cost of production. So things like location permits, camera & lens rentals, day rates for our crew and cast members, props and wardrobe. Your donations will also help us in post-production for things like a original score, color grade and sound design.
Thank you so much for exploring our crowdfunding campaign. If you're not in a position to support financially you can help by sharing our GFM page with your friends and family.

Drew
