Sheffield University Rowing Club is coming off the most successful period in the club’s history.

This season alone, we have won a silver medal at BUCS Head, two bronze medals at BUCS Regatta, achieved our best WeHORR result in over 20 years, won the club’s first ever pennant at HoRR, and, for the first time ever, sent seven crews to race across the Tideway Head events.

Last year was equally historic, with our third consecutive qualification for the Aspirational 4x at Henley Women’s Regatta and our first qualification for the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in 27 years.

What makes these achievements even more special is that they have all come from a completely student-led programme. We train at Damflask Reservoir in the Peak District from a boathouse with no heating or social facilities, balancing intense training alongside demanding university degrees, driven only by the determination to compete with the best university clubs in the country.

Unfortunately, on the way to our Easter training camp this year, we had a trailering accident which caused significant damage to much of our fleet leaving us in an incredibly difficult position ahead of BUCS and the regatta season.

For a club that has worked so hard to build momentum over the last few years, this has been devastating.

We are now hoping to raise £7,500 to help rebuild our fleet and invest in a new Senior Women’s 8+, ensuring that this setback does not stop the progress of current and future Sheffield rowers.

Over the next year, our members will be taking on a series of fundraising challenges to help us reach this goal, and we would be hugely grateful for any support, no matter how small.

Every donation will directly help Sheffield University Rowing Club recover, rebuild, and continue the success that this generation of athletes has worked so hard to achieve.
