The road to Zak’s Recovery

My name is Asya and I am the sister of Zakee. On February 11th Zak was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident leaving him in a medically induced coma due to severe trauma. The physical toll this event has caused on Zak’s body has left him in ICU for over a week now. He is currently intubated as his lungs are not strong enough to breathe on his own and he was placed on dialysis to support his kidneys. As we stand by Zak and watch him fight his way back to us we ask humbly for any assistance to support him on this road to recovery.

Zak is a loving son, father, and an amazing big brother. He works for South Beach Orthotics & Prosthetics in Davie Florida where he is an integral part of the team that designs & builds prosthetics for individuals who have lost their limbs. As team leader for the afternoon shift, Zak guides new techs teaching them each step of the fabrication process. Zak always has a smile on his face and is ready to chip in to help with anything going on in the lab. He has a passion for the work, he loves seeing the patients walk for the first time. "He thanks me every month for giving him the job and the opportunity to change people's lives," said Mark Selleck owner of the company.

He spends his free time playing sports, riding his motorcycle, and creating art. He’s truly a shining light to those around him and we can’t wait until he’s shining again. Zak's living expenses are about $3,000.00 per month, not counting the mounting medical expenses each day he is in ICU. Our goal here is to cover, at least, his living expenses for 3 months so he can focus on recovery once he is strong enough to wake up. Once he does wake up, there will be physical therapy and plenty of medical care needed given his current condition.
