Woodenfish Fundraiser 2018 - Continue the Cycle
Woodenfish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that gives life-changing educational experiences. Your donation is funding:
• Seattle Urban Monastery (USA Woodenfish HUB)
• Fund-a-Fish scholarships for HBMLP
• Afterschool mindfulness clubs in underserved schools
• Public school teacher meditation
We believe when wisdom, compassion, and diligence are cultivated, the world becomes a better place to live. We also know there innumerable barriers that can get in the way. Together, we can make sure that regardless of financial ability, all people can pursue wisdom through our HBMLP and HUB programs.
Your gift will give someone the chance to practice.

Seattle Urban Monastery
October 2018 marks the launch of the first Humanistic Urban Buddhist (HUB) center - Seattle Urban Monastery. Powered by Woodenfish and alumni, the Seattle Urban Monastery:
• Is powered by a 3-6 month, supercharged residential training program for social entrepreneurs and leaders seeking to better themselves and the community
• Directly supports local underserved schools and public school teachers
• Facilitates meditation and educational programs for the greater community
• Offers residents the support and means to develop their own programs and projects
This is a place where you can return to your practice. You are invited to “step in” for a weekend silent retreat, a week-long hermitage, or apply for a 3-6 month residency. Visiting Seattle? Consider this your accommodation and base as you explore, do business, or visit friends.
Humanistic Buddhist Monastic Life Program
Each year, Woodenfish Foundation sponsors young leaders from across the globe to experience a way of living that is starkly different than their every day. The Humanistic Buddhist Monastic Life Program lasts for 1 month, serves almost 100 students with full coverage scholarships, and is facilitated by Venerable Yifa and a team of volunteer staff. Participants wake at dawn, study the history, tradition, and practices of Buddhism, and practice meditation. Living alongside monks and nuns, students are immersed in a life of cultivation, peace, and diligent practice. Each day is ritually ended with chanting and a slow, rhythmic drum beat fading into the silence of the night as students continue to cultivate their minds in an extraordinary way. Each person learns something unique to themselves and when the program ends, students carry their new found wisdom back home, integrating back into everyday life with a new perspective. Our Alumni are engaged in all career paths from famous Hollywood stars, public servants, lawyers, doctors, scholars, and more.
