So many of you already know our story, but for those who don't, my name is Stephen Underwood. My precious wife, Kristine, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. There are numerous cancer nodes throughout her body, including her brain, lungs, liver, and spine. Her treatment will begin with three weeks of brain radiation and then move to chemotherapy after that. We know this is just the beginning of a long, difficult journey.
On August 3, 2016, I shared this devastating news on Facebook. The response to that post was overwhelming and humbling. We received numerous comments, private messages, texts, and phone calls from friends and family near and far encouraging us, praying for us, and asking how they could help.
We've been encouraged by our church and others to create a GoFundMe account. We aren't comfortable asking for financial assistance as what we truly covet the most are your prayers, but we are coming to terms with the reality that the financial burden of this disease is more than we can handle. Kristine is unable to work as she goes through treatment and I am hoping to continue with nursing school while working part-time as long as the Lord allows. We have no idea what future expenses we will have, we only know that the insurance premiums, copays, and deductibles, in addition to our regular living expenses, are adding up quickly.
We ask that you will prayerfully consider coming alongside our family as we face this battle. We also ask that all who read this continue to pray for Kristine's healing. Thank you all so much for your time, prayers, encouragement and support. We are truly moved and blessed by everyone.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and encouragement for Kristine and I. We appreciate it so much.
As we are going through this journey, we are going to need continued prayer and support. Kristine is the love of my life, my bride, and I love her and care for her with all of my heart. I am reminded of our wedding vows we made 7 years ago, when we committed to love and stand by one another in sickness and in health. I am truly blessed by our marriage and how much fun and joy we always have together. Now as we are walking in this time of dealing with serious sickness, my desire is to continue in the love and joy that we have always walked in and use this time to bring us even closer to one another than we already are.
So now to update everyone. We got the results of her PET scan and MRI. The results are not good at all and we are just praying and trying to keep trusting God and looking to Him through all of this.
Kristine has Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. The scans show that there are numerous cancer nodes throughout her body, including her brain, lungs, liver, and spine. So please, please, please keep praying for us. We are trying to begin treatment as quickly as possible. We will start with 3 weeks of brain radiation and then move to chemotherapy after that. That's the plan, but we have no idea really how this will unford, and are trying to take this one step at a time and one day at a time.
Again, we appreciate everyone's continued prayers and support as we move forward. Our trust and hope is in God, even though we are terrified and upset and questioning why this is happening. But again, our hope is in God through Jesus Christ.
The Lord gave this verse to Kristine in her daily reading right before receiving her test results:
"But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You cover him with favor as a shield." Psalm 5:11-12
