My name is Marrena Ralph, and I am running this GoFundMe page for the family of Tim Slocum. Tim’s oldest daughter is our daughter-in-love, Amber. Tim and Cindy and their kids (Amber, Ashlyn, and TJ) and family have experienced an extremely traumatic and terrifying situation. They are in great financial need due to Tim’s unexpected medical emergency and hospital stay.

On Monday night, November 1st, Tim was rushed to the Emergency Room, due to breathing difficulties, thought to be related to a recent diagnosis of bronchitis. However, after doing several scans and tests, the doctors discovered SEVERAL large blood clots in his lungs.

While the procedure was completed and thought to be successful, one of the blood clots threw into the arteries between his lungs and heart. Tim went into cardiac arrest, with both of his parents present in the room.

He was given life-saving measures for up to 50 minutes, with several moments where his heart stopped and started with a faint pulse. Tim’s wife, parents, and kids watched as nurses and doctors did everything possible to save his life. At one point, they were told there was not much more to be done with how long he had been without a heartbeat.

Miraculously, God intervened, and Tim was brought back to life. He was taken to Open Heart Surgery, where they accessed his arteries and removed LARGE and LONG blood clots that filled the arteries. The surgery was successful, and the family waited for Tim to show signs of any cognitive function.

In cases like Tim’s, cognitive function is very unlikely and if there is any, it is typically very limited.

But God has had other plans. Tim is responding to commands of “open your eyes”, “move your toes”, and “squeeze my hand.” And beyond that, Tim has frequently nodded in response and recognition to family members’ questions and communication.

As the doctors and nurses remain amazed and have often used “miraculous” and “extraordinary”, the Slocums have continued to see God work in Tim and through his life.

As can be imagined, the Slocum Family is facing great financial difficulties. Tim is the main breadwinner, and he will be out of work for at least 6 months from being released from the hospital. Cindy will be out of work till the end of January. Medical bills, regular bills, gas, food… All these are great monetary needs that must be filled.

Please help us reach our goal to continue to show God’s work in their lives. Any money given will be used to continue to pay the necessary bills acquired through the hospital stay as well as monthly household bills for the foreseeable future.
