This fundraising campaign is for the Schultz family. For a little back story... He was born on April 15, 2007 at only 2lbs 3 oz. He got a life threatening infection in his intestines and ended up having most of them removed. Over the years he has had countless medical emergencies and somehow found a way to bounce back each time. He has depended on TPN for nutrition which damages the liver. His only option is a bowel transplant. He received one and a few days later the implanted bowels had to be removed. Since then he has been waiting and trying to get healthy so that he can receive another transplant…this time bowels and a liver. He has been in the hospital for almost two months now. He went in with a line infection but because of his recent decline he was transferred from University of Maryland to Georgetown in DC.
Gabriel has shown that he has enormous strength his entire life and he continues to fight. Sadly now he is in liver and kidney failure. Today a meeting was held with the Schultz family and some of the doctors that are caring for Gabe. Every possible measure is being taken in order to try to get Gabe his transplant and also try to keep him comfortable. He is listed but has not been activated. He has to meet all of the criteria in order to be activated so that they can start looking for the organs. Sadly Gabe is running out of time because of his liver. Georgetown is almost two hours from his home. This has put a lot of stress and financial strain on the family. A lot of people have been asking how they can help and where they can donate so we set this up. Its so hard to put this in writing but the goal is to lesson the financial burden on the family and prepare for possible funereal expenses.
