Haley was diagnosed with end stage renal disease at 14. She had to have life saving blood transfusions. She went on dialysis for a year and half and then was given the gift of life again with a kidney transplant. She was able to do all of the teenage things again. Go to prom, drive a car, get a job and she graduated. She got to go to college and have that experience. She was independent and lived on her own and had a job. 4 years ago her kidney went into rejection and we had to start all over again with dialysis. She was doing well until June of 2024, she fell ill with pneumonia. She had had 2 cardiac arrests that left her lifeless for 19 minutes. She was in a coma and on a vent to breathe for several weeks. We didn’t know what her condition would be when or if she woke up. She eventually woke up and that’s when we saw she wasn’t able to get out of bed or feed or give herself a drink. We also learned she had a seizure issue and had terrible tremors. She fought through many months of rehab and dialysis. After many hard months she decided she couldn’t do it anymore. She was tired. Her body was so thin and fragile. She had lost most of her hair. Dialysis is painful on the body. She just decided she didn’t want this for the rest of her life. She fought long and hard. We brought her home to be surrounded by family and friends and show her she is loved. And for 4 days we had her before she left to be with our Lord.
Some families leave a lasting imprint on your heart. Jamie and Jessica Gomez are one of those families. When I first met them, they weren't just looking for solar energy, they were holding onto a dream. A dream to bring their daughter back home to a safe, stable environment where her medical equipment could run without interruption, powered by solar and backed by a Tesla battery. For them, it was about more than power; it was about peace of mind, comfort, and care. Their love and determination were deeply moving. But before we could bring that dream to life, tragedy struck when their daughter Haley passed away at only 26 from kidney failure. I share this with a heavy heart and with deep respect for their courage in the face of unimaginable loss. Jamie and Jessica are now navigating a grief no parent should ever have to endure, all while facing the financial weight of funeral and memorial costs they never anticipated. I'm reaching out not just as a consultant but as someone who was profoundly touched by their story. If you believe in compassion, in community, and in the importance of being there for others, this is one of those moments. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly to the Gomez family. Your support will help cover memorial expenses and give them the space to grieve without the added burden of financial stress. Let's honor their daughter's life by lifting this family up when they need it most. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for reminding them they are not alone. With love and gratitude, Jaime Corzo
