Introduction:
First of all, thank you for taking the time to view our campaign. Although Security’s story is sad, it means a lot to share his wonderful spirit with you. We invite you to follow our journey below. Justin is the most giving and considerate soul, but now is the time he needs all of us to come together for him and his puppy-son, Security. This little fur baby is Justin’s entire World!
Our family would be forever grateful to anyone that is able to donate (or send prayers) to help keep our special boys happy and healthy! Both are in pain, both are suffering.
Security’s Tragic Accident:
On the late afternoon of August 10, 2020, Security’s Co-Parent (Aunt Anneke) took him to the dog park to play and swim with all of his friends. While chasing and playing, as he loves to do, he tragically ran full speed head on into a tree and immediately fractured his spine. Justin was working, so the best Dog Aunt EVER had to take him to the closest animal hospital- alone and very shaken up. There was nothing they could do for him, so Justin and Anneke took him to another animal hospital in town. The second vet delivered the same sad news after evaluation and x-rays - no hope- no treatment, with another recommendation to put him down.
Justin knew this wasn’t his time. With all hands on deck, our family prepared Justin, Aunt Anneke and Security for the 4 hour drive to Denver to save his life. They had to drive him over Independence Pass due to fires in the Canyon, holding him stable as he whimpered, injecting him every 45 minutes with morphine, as if the situation wasn’t scary enough- now he in complete darkness and with no cell service most of drive- left with only their thoughts and hopes.
7 hours later, they dropped Security off at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, where he will undergo veterinary spinal surgery tomorrow! Security’s dad made the right decision- they are saving his life! It was confirmed he is not paralyzed at this point, but keeping inflammation down is crucial. He was sedated throughout the night, all day today and tonight- they worked up CT scans and an MRI today in preparation for the neurosurgeon to repair Security’s spinal fracture.
Recovery will be very hard and very long- with months of immobility. At this point, we do not know how long they will keep him or when he can make the trip home. We know many trips back and forth from Aspen to Denver are in the future for this family.
We guarantee 100% of the funds raised will pay for Security’s medical bills, any follow up procedures and medications needed, as well as travel expenses for visits that Security will need. I will attach all medical bills, as they become available.
Our Campaign:
Justin carries himself with a lot of pride, and he would never ask for help, so we are asking ourselves and it’s to support Security’s life. Dealing with the accident, transport, scheduled surgery, recovery, on-going prescriptions and follow-up visits will be tough financially and emotionally – and we are asking for your help. The immediacy of neurosurgery is the main reason for this campaign. Justin is working full time and was also just sworn into the Aspen Fire Department. His plate is full and resources will be depleted.
About Security:
Security is Justin’s (and family’s) 5 month old SUPER SPECIAL husky malamute mix who is truly the sweetest boy you'll ever meet- he is playful, charming, and outgoing. He greets everyone as friends and doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his broken body. Don’t you see the soul behind his eyes?
He loves hiking, swimming, running and being with his family. Security is tremendously loyalty and dedicated to the ones he loves. He’s energetic, intelligent and affectionate and we need your help!
We would love nothing more than for Security to continue to love and play the way he always has. Any small donation, or sharing of this campaign would be so deeply appreciated.
Hopefully we have captured a little piece of Security’s spirit for you.
love,
Security’s Aunts, Lani + Krysti (plus cousins Wesley + Hunter) & Uncles, George + Jonathan
