Donation protected
In 2014 Valley Christian School student, Katie Schiltz was diagnosed with liver disease, with a liver transplant as the only way to save her life. She spent the last 18 months on the donor list, waiting for "the call". Then, on May 22, just two weeks before Katie's high school graduation, the call came through. While Katie underwent a complicated liver transplant her classmates made sure that Katie was represented in their graduation activities.

Within a few days of the liver transplant, Katie experienced complications with the new liver, she was put on a ventilator and was placed back on the liver transplant list, knowing that the current liver would only last two weeks. By the Grace of God, a new liver was donated within a week and Katie experienced a successful transplant and is going through the long healing process that goes with organ transplant.
During this entire process, Katie's family (mother, father and two brothers) has been by her side. Her weeks in ICU and now weeks at the Ronald McDonald House in order to undergo daily lab work and monitoring has taken a toll on the family's finances. Mr. Schiltz has exhausted his personal and vacation hours at work, and has had to take some unpaid leave and any extra financial resources for the family have been depleted.
Praise God Katie is doing well and Mr. Schiltz has returned to work, but the time off of work has left the family with financial hardship. There is also additional travel, hospital stays and monitoring for Katie as she moves forward in her recovery and post-transplant future.
Would you help support the Schiltz family through the summer? By the end of summer, prayerfully, the family should be able to return to their "normal" routines of working and income for the family. This money will be used for the daily life of the family such as housing, food and gas. We know the Schiltz family is a faithful family who rely on God for provision. We also know that God uses His people and calls upon us to support one another and to give generously to those in need. We would like to support the Schiltz family as they have graciously supported many in the past.
