Hello everyone! As you've probably heard, our dear Sarah "Quigg" gave birth to baby Noah on September 1st, at just 28 weeks pregnant. She had high blood pressure and was showing signs of preeclampsia and needed to deliver as soon as possible. Sarah and Chucho live in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca; a small fishing and surfing town in southern Mexico. Sarah is a missionary teacher with Global Education Ministries and Chucho is finishing his studies as a civil engineer. Puerto Escondido is a very secluded town with very little medical advancement. Noah is currently not hooked up to any machines but has been stable from what doctors can tell. He was born in the public hospital in Puerto because they had an incubator but it turned out to be broken. Noah only weighed 2.7 pounds at birth and has been loosing weight over the last few days. Sarah has finally been released from the hospital after a 10 day stay due to unstable blood pressure and swelling. She is now doing well and recovering!
Noah has been such a little fighter and continues to fight to gain weight. He still weighs less than his birth weight and needs to see some specialists to figure out his exact needs going forward. They will begin supplementing with formula (which is very expensive) to try and help get his weight up. Sarah and Chucho are staying with a family who has a home right next to the hospital to make the feedings every 2 hours more manageable. God has been so good to provide their every need up to this point!
This has all been a huge financial burden for their family and it is only the beginning of their journey. We want to bring Noah home healthy! They need help with big medical bills, formula, specialists, food, and other day to day expenses.
We know that God is so faithful and he is a healer and miracle worker! Please be in prayer for Chucho, Sarah and Noah. Thank you so much for coming alongside this special family as they walk through this difficult season with their new baby.
Breakdown of expected costs (in US dollars):
Specialists: $5,000
Hospital Bills: $7,000
Premie Fórmula: $1,500
Assistance with everyday expenses for the family: $1,500
We love you all and so does the Santos family!
