Hi, my name is Yne Leal. I’m starting this GoFundMe because, unfortunately, my dad, Elmar Leal, had to undergo emergency surgery on July 6th, 2025, after several weeks of severe abdominal pain. A tumor was removed, and he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

He lives in Venezuela, and it breaks my heart to say that, like many people there, my dad doesn’t have health insurance. It’s a frightening and overwhelming situation to face.

My parents, Carmen and Elmar, have been married for over 51 years. Together, they founded El Taller de Arte Sonoro in Caracas in 1986 — "el TAS" — where more than 1,600 students graduated as sound engineers. Many of them now live around the world, working in various areas of audio engineering.

My dad loves my mom, making music, our family — especially his three grandchildren: Vera, Marcus, and Maia. He finds joy in learning, teaching, and looking at El Ávila, the beautiful mountain right in front of our home. Mi papá Elmar taught my sister Tata and me that with effort and passion, anything is possible.

He now needs urgent treatment, and his medical bills have already exceeded $22,500. I truly believe that many people will help him continue living many more years.

Hola, mi nombre es Yne Leal. Estoy iniciando esta campaña en GoFundMe porque, desafortunadamente, a mi papá, Elmar Leal, luego de pasar tres semanas con un fuerte dolor abdominal, le realizaron una cirugía de emergencia el 6 de julio de 2025. Le removieron un tumor y fue diagnosticado con cáncer de colon.

Mis padres, Carmen y Elmar, han estado casados por más de 51 años. Juntos fundaron El Taller de Arte Sonoro en Caracas en 1986 — "el TAS" — donde más de 1.600 estudiantes se graduaron como ingenieros de sonido. Muchos de ellos hoy viven en distintas partes del mundo, trabajando en diversas áreas del audio.

Mi papá Elmar nos enseñó con su ejemplo a mi hermana Tata y a mí que, con esfuerzo y pasión, todo es posible. Él ama a mi mamá, hacer música, a nuestra familia —especialmente a sus tres nietos: Vera, Marcus y Maia—, aprender, enseñar y también contemplar El Ávila, la hermosa montaña que está justo frente a nuestra casa.

Ahora necesita tratamiento urgente, y los gastos médicos ya superan los $22,500. Sabemos que muchas personas ayudarán a nuestro papá a seguir viviendo muchos años más.
