Support Mrs. Kenny C. from NCA

*Before you read this page, please know that I have created this page with Mrs. Kenny's permission and knowledge. I asked her if I could do something to help her and she is open to that. She did not ask for help - I asked her to give the families who want to help her the gift of supporting her.*
I asked my children to give me words to describe Mrs. Kenny Castellanos, a favorite teacher who has taught all four of them at some point in their early education careers. They chose the words:
AMAZING * KIND * LOVING * MAGICAL * BEAUTIFUL * COOL * GREAT * AWESOME * SWEET * HAIR-BRAIDER-EXTRAORDINAIRE
When I learned last month that Mrs. Kenny (as the kids call her - Castellanos is mouthful for three year-olds!) was going to fight the biggest battle of her life as she tackled oropharyngeal (neck area) cancer, I knew that her extended school family would want to help her. Her doctors have told her that her cancer is curable with treatment.
It's hard to think of a way to adequately help a woman who has loved and cared for all of my children (and those of many NCA families!) as if they were her own. I know you've seen her hugging the children, laughing with them, comforting them, teaching them to pray. It's our turn to give Mrs. Kenny the hugs, laughter, comfort, and prayers she needs.
As Mrs. Kenny approaches her last day of work for the school year as her treatment now begins, I know that this will be a difficult time for her in more ways than one, including the financial burden that comes with an illness such as this. A regular face at extended care and NCA camp likely won't be there for the rest of the year/this summer, and I would like to think that with this fundraiser, we can help make up that lost income and then some to also support any additional costs incurred during this medical battle.
Any money you give will go DIRECTLY TO MRS. KENNY to support her so she can apply these funds as she needs to do,
I know that I am not alone in my desire to support Mrs. Kenny. Some of you may know that this is a Jubilee Year of Mercy so please consider what merciful prayers and acts you can offer for Mrs. Kenny. Please join me in praying for her and her family.
