My name is Cybil Usher and I am the niece of JP and Marti Costas. If you know the Costas family, you know they've always shown up for others with open hearts, generous spirits, and unwavering support.
On May 16th, JP Costas experienced a traumatic fall that resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him currently paralyzed from the neck down. Since the accident, he has faced enormous challenges, including time in the ICU, a step-down unit, and is now stable and in a regular room awaiting insurance approval and placement in a rehab facility.
JP is hoping to be transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, one of the nation's top rehabilitation centers for spinal cord injuries, where he hopes to begin the next phase of his journey: an intensive rehab program aimed at helping him regain as much mobility and independence as possible.
This road is long and it will be expensive. The needs are many and the overall expense is still very much unknown but some of the foreseen needs will be:
*Medical equipment and supplies
*Specialized transportation
*Home modifications for accessibility
*Ongoing therapies and care
They have been a source of strength and inspiration to so many in their community and beyond. Now it is our turn to show up for them!
Thank you for walking alongside the Costas family through this life-altering journey. Your love and generosity are deeply felt—and deeply appreciated.
