As most friends/family are aware, John is a Tyle 1 Diabetic.  At the very end of April 2015 complications from the disease resulted in John suffering a stroke in his right optical nerve.  The stroke caused John to lose his vision in his right eye.  John, who was already without vision in his left eye prior to this incident, is now legally blind.  He went to bed one night being able to see and woke up the next morning with essentially no vision. Both John and his family are just beginning to learn how to live and cope with the sudden blindness.  The family expects to incur various unanticipated expenses, including visual aids and other tools which will hopefully enable John to continue to live a productive life.   John and his family also hope to move from their small-town (with no public transportation) to a metropolitan area that will allow John to get around on public transporation since he can no longer drive - likely to the southwest where the warm weather will also be more comfortable for John who, because of diabetes-related complications, suffers incredible pain from the cold midwest winters.  The family is looking for any support family/friends may offer in order to help offset some of the medical expenses and well as enable them to move to a location where John can thrive.
