Jodi's Fight

Donation protected
Update - Jodi passed away peacefully at 10:49pm on Tuesday, 6/26/18 with loved ones close by. Thank you for your continued support. You are all so appreciated. As most of you already know, Jodi started her battle with breast cancer at just 25 years old.  After going through chemotherapy and radiation, she was cleared after 5 years and finally in remission.  Knowing that there was an increased risk of recurrence if they attempted to have children, Josh and Jodi decided that their strong desire to start a family was worth the risk.  Even though Mila is their greatest blessing,  this triggered the cancer to return, unfortunately.  In January of 2015, after being in remission for 5 years,  Jodi was told that she had stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to her lungs. Not only were her lungs affected, but also her liver and brain.  Jodi has had numerous procedures including multiple brain surgeries and the removal of her ovaries. Not to mention, 8 different types of chemotherapy and numerous medications and other various treatments. As you can imagine, this has all taken quite a toll on Josh, Jodi, and Mila (who will be 6 years old in August) -- physically, emotionally, and financially.  Unfortunately, there is only so much that insurance will cover, and sometimes, as most of you probably know, insurance companies aren't the easiest to work with. Josh and Jodi began traveling to UCLA approximately every week for a year before they switched to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where they still travel quite frequently to seek help from specialists. The cost of travel itself is outrageous.  With the frequent travels, of course both Josh and Jodi have had to miss a lot of work.  As most of you know, Josh is a firefighter for Clark County Fire Department.  Both Josh's fellow firefighters and Jodi's fellow teachers have rallied to do all that they can to support and help during this difficult time. They have all stepped up to cover shifts as needed and alleviate any stress to insure that Jodi's health can be their primary focus.  Jodi has already beat cancer once, and we're all still holding out hope and praying for a miracle that she can do it again. Jodi is an amazingly strong woman and has been in the best of spirits.  Unfortunately, life keeps throwing curve balls and over the past few weeks, she has had to put up a very big fight. This go fund me account is being set up in hopes that we can raise enough to help with the extra costs that insurance won't cover and that Josh and Jodi should not have to worry about at this time.  Any extra money that is not needed towards medical expenses will be put into a college fund for Mila.   Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Your love, support, and continued prayers mean the world to Josh, Jodi, Mila, and the rest of our family.
