Urgent Response Needed for Jennifer's Recovery

Donation protected
It is with shattered hearts that we share the horrific tragedy that occurred on the morning of Friday, July, 9, 2021. Jennifer Regan, an extraordinary single mother of two, had an “average” commute to her job that she loves at the orthopedic department at Fresno Kaiser Permanente where she’s been employed for 15 years.

On this (what would turn into a nightmare) day, while driving her car on the busy intersection of First and Herndon, Jennifer was shot by an ex-boyfriend who has been stalking and threatening her life for over a year. Jennifer was shot multiple times and swerved into another vehicle most likely on the same innocent-average morning commute. She was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center and suffers from multiple fractures throughout her body. She was unresponsive for a total of two minutes, but the amazing medical geniuses brought her back!

Just days into this tragic event, Jennifer has already endured the first of many facial surgeries to close the bullet wounds that went through each of her cheeks, roof of her mouth, tongue and jaw.  She is relying on a tracheotomy to help her breathe from her tongue swelling and airway being compromised. Fortunately, the medical team has been able to stabilize her heart, each night she survives is a true miracle. The family is taking it day by day and holding on to God’s will during this difficult time.

As reactive as Jennifer was in her vehicle, unfortunately, one of the bullets that struck her,  left fragments in her spine that have caused her permanent paralysis from the middle of her back down. This is heartbreaking as she is a busy bee and loves to be active at work and in her personal life – she has a teenage boy!!! This is a hard reality for the family to hear as they know that her life will look much differently down the road towards her recovery journey.

The surgeons, doctors, and nurses are keeping her as comfortable as possible and have prepared the family that multiple surgeries are inevitable for the immediate future.

This mother of two and lover of Cherry Chapstick (tried desperately to communicate to her children that she needed it in her hospital bed), is the sole provider. Her young 24 year old daughter has had to make decisions no child should ever have to face.  Funds raised will be used on medical bills (current and future), to make her home and vehicle accessible for a wheelchair, to pay monthly bills, and to raise her children. Any amount is appreciated and much needed.

Jennifer will be in the hospital for several months. Then she’ll need rehab therapy. She’ll eventually need a home health nurse once she is recovered fully. Jennifer is full of life and radiates positivity, unconditional love, and laughter contagiously. She is a fighter!!

Jennifer’s friends’ and family’s hope with this page is to raise awareness about domestic violence as well as to raise enough funds so that as the medical expenses inevitably incur, there will be a financial pond to pull from. A financial respite.

Prayers are absolutely needed during this time: For her children, mother, and immediate family to navigate these unchartered waters. What we are asking for is prayers for continued Miracles through her healing journey.

The media was amazing in covering this horrendous shooting on Friday but they weren't able to give Jennifer's name and personal story - you can help by getting the word out for support!
