Jamie was a beautiful and strong 42 year old wife, Mom of 3, Aunt, Sister, Daughter, Friend, and recent college graduate. A couple years ago she had a cancerous mass removed from her back that was confirmed as having clear margins by her surgeon. Everyone was happy to hear it was removed and she was thankful that she could move forward with life.
Two years later, she would find out that this was not the case. She went to the doctor because she had shoulder pain, and was shocked when the doctor told her that she had a torn muscle in her arm, two fractures, and that there was a spot of concern near her scapula - right near where the mass was. She was referred to a doctor in Oklahoma City that specializes in rare forms of cancer, and she knew that this would be a much harder road than she had hoped. Unfortunately, Jamie was no stranger to cancer. Her oldest daughter has already fought for her life and beat cancer. Jamie was there for her every step of the way.
Just a couple months ago, in May, at her appointment with the doctor in OKC, it was confirmed that Jamie had a rare form of cancer called Hemangioendothelioma and that it was Stage 4. She was told at that time that it had spread to her shoulder and to her hips, but that they believed it would be a slow growing cancer and that she could likely see success with chemo and radiation.
She started radiation as soon as possible, and decided it was time to fight. Unfortunately, again, she was disappointed to find that the radiation didn't work after having to be transferred to the emergency room due to breathing problems. While she was in the hospital, the oncologist did a scan and found that the cancer had spread to her right lung, and that it was causing her left lung to fill up with fluid. They drained the lung, and told her that it looked like she would now only have about 12 months left to live. What they thought was a slow growing cancer had now become very aggressive.
Just a week later, on July 4th, she was back in the ER for the same reason, where she found that she now had cancer in both lungs and that she was looking like she would only have 3-6 months left. Then, just a few days later, on July 8th at 1:38am, she went to heaven.
Her family is, obviously, devastated by the loss and are shocked by how quickly they lost their Mom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend.
Thankfully, Jamie did have life insurance that will help the girls lighten the load they will now take on to pay the mortgage, utilities, groceries, and all the expenses associated with life down the road without her, but there are a lot of up front expenses that her daughters could use your help with while they work with the insurance company to try to get the funds. It will be a minimum of 2 weeks before they see any of these funds, and could possibly be much longer. Funeral expenses, groceries, incurred medical expenses, mortgage, utilities, and more will need to be paid between now and then while the older girls are having to take off work to plan and pick up the pieces.
Please help out Jamie's girls by donating any amount you are able - your support is deeply appreciated by all of her family and friends. We all miss Jamie so much... her smile, her laugh, her always accepting heart... and we will never forget the beautiful woman she was. Thank you for helping us love her and her family the best way we can during this incredibly difficult time.
