The healing process begins…on Tuesday Savvy was showing mild colic symptoms.  After several vet visits and declining state she was referred to Rood and Riddle for further diagnostics Thursday morning.   Upon further observation Dr. Hopper was pretty positive her bowel was displaced and causing an impaction.  The vet explained if Savvy had one more thrashing episode, despite supportive care and pain meds on board within the hour, Juli needed to make a decision to operate or euthanize.  Dr. Hopper explained the surgery would be routine with a positive recovery.  Juli did not get an hour….20 minutes she was called and it was now decision time.

Savvy’s surgery was exactly what Dr. Hopper explained but she also needed her large intestine “dumped”, Savvy had a very big impaction.  Her surgery lasted 2.5 hours. 

Savvy will receive post op supportive care at Rood and Riddle for the next 5 days.  Once released Juli and Savvy will remain in Ohio for 30 days for further recovery before heading home to Arizona.

We all know Savvy’s story from the beginning and we all see the relationship and partnership that has blossomed between the two of them thru Parelli Natural Horsemanship.  When you think of Juli, you think of Savvy and when you think of Savvy you think of Juli; kinda like peas and carrots!
