Our sister, Nikki, had surgery on February 4 for a routine cyst removal when the unexpected happened. As the doctor was removing the cyst, he found cancer and had to immediately remove Nikki's ovaries, taking away her ability to have biological children with her husband. While Nikki's prognosis looks optimistic, her world has drastically shifted and she's now looking at a different future than she ever imagined. The financial implications of this surgery and subsequent hospital stay are also up in the air.

For now, Nikki and her husband Charlie are holding strong and concentrating on healing from what turned out to be a much bigger surgery than originally planned. (Not to mention the hormonal changes that occur when the ovaries are removed). They know they really want to have children someday but that it's going to be much more difficult, both financially and physically for them. They have a long road ahead  and we know it's going to bring a lot of grief and pain but hopefully also hope and promise.

Right now, we are heartbroken, feeling helpless and want to help in any way possible. Nikki's sisters are setting up this GoFundMe to ensure that Nikki and Charlie have the financial means to get through this tragedy and give them the room to make whatever personal decisions they need to move forward, with both healing and with starting their family.
