Supporting Youth Literacy North of Boston
Donation protected
I am passionate about finding a meaningful way to give back to the community. One of my deepest passions lies in supporting kids and creating opportunities for all children to thrive.
About 7 years ago I took on a project to publish a children’s book as a means of raising funds for a local school’s library. The project didn’t go as well as I had hoped, really, it was a flop ☹ and I have 1,000 books sitting in my office. Now, in 2021 I want to turn the page (no pun intended) on this project and find a way to support kids in a different way! The great part about this project is the books are already printed so there are no expenses to cover.
In the last year, there has been increased awareness of the existing ‘Achievement Gap’ - school children from low-income households fall further and further behind academically every year in part due to the lack of resources and extra support outside of school. To help address this issue, I’m reinvigorating the book project to raise money to support programs striving to address the Achievement Gap for kids North of Boston.
A key partner this project will support is the Y of the North Shore and their summer learning loss prevention program which serves 600 children in Beverly, Haverhill, Salem, Cape Ann and Manchester/Essex. YMCA of the North Shore Summer learning loss prevention program
Here’s where you come in. I’m looking for individuals and businesses to consider sponsoring a book to support these programs. Not only will the book be donated to a student served in the program, the funds raised will be given to the program as well. It’s a double-whammy!
In addition my business will match 10% of all funds raised up to project goal. If we can secure a sponsor for every book in my office, we will raise over $10,000 and provide a book to over 1,000 children in our communities that need it the most.
Any amount is appreciated, but I’m asking for a donation of $10 per book to support a student in need. For every $10 donated I will include your name on a sticker in the donated book(just indicate in the message what name you would like to be included on the sticker).
If you or your business want to sponsor 25 books or more, send me a message before making a gift so we can discuss additional recognition for your support.
Thanks for joining me in making a difference for kids in our community. It’s going to take all of us to help and every bit counts.
A portion of funds will go to support Danvers public schools via Danvers Educational Enrichment Partnership
Thanks,
Matt
