Supporting Young Women in Jazz - Help Evelyn Reach Her Dream

Evelyn's Story In Her Own Words:

"My name is Evelyn Yosmali. I am a young female jazz vibraphonist. I started out taking piano lessons and In fifth grade, I began playing with the Cincinnati Jazz academy. When i started playing the vibraphone, I realized that I really enjoyed improv and wanted to do more of it. I often go to jam sessions at jazz clubs to play with Cincinnati’s jazz community. Some of my favorite music experiences are traveling to Barcelona Spain for the JAZZING jazz festival and playing with professional musicians like vibraphonist Cary Kocher. I have won runner up (in 2023) and first place (in 2024) in the instrumental soloist divisions at the Lionel Hampton Jazz festival.

One of the reasons why I want to go to Interlochen is to meet other kids and connect with others who are just as passionate about jazz music as I am. Playing amongst others gives you a taste for the adult world as a professional. I am interested in possibly writing film scores or educating others. I love to challenge myself and have a passion for learning. All of these things are what Interlochen was made for." ~ Evelyn Yosmali



About Evelyn

Evelyn is an exceptional emerging jazz musician who has won national solo competitions and has been recognized as a musician to watch in a jazz publication. We are excited to share that she has been accepted into the prestigious and internationally renowned Interlochen Arts Center Summer Camp for Jazz Performance & Improvisation this summer.

While Evelyn has received some financial aid and a merit scholarship from Interlochen, it is not enough to cover the total cost. Therefore, we are seeking your support to help cover these expenses and enable Evelyn to participate in this invaluable experience.

Our fundraising goal is $7,500 which will be used for:

- The remaining tuition balance

- Camp uniforms

- Four pairs of mallets

- Camping supplies

- Travel and hotel expenses to and from Cincinnati, OH, and Interlochen, MI
