My name is Joelle (Brewer) Held and my sister, Traci (Brewer) Love, and I are raising funds for our sister, Wendi (Brewer) Giles, after the sudden and tragic loss of her husband, Dan Lee Giles, from a fatal motorcycle accident on April 18, 2026 on Montana Highway 35, outside of Polson, Montana.
Dan and Wendi were married for nearly 38 years, though together since she was 14 years old. He was a devoted family man, caring community member, adventurous friend, Gulf War Navy Veteran, and one of the hardest workers out there who was taken far too soon.
In addition to losing the love of her life, Wendi is trying to figure out how to take care of funeral and other related expenses, as well as adjusting to life with the loss of Dan's income. Dan was the Maintenance Director for Polson School District and was the caretaker of a property, where Dan and Wendi lived in provided housing for the last 16 years. Dan was the primary earner. Wendi worked for Pablo Elementary for nearly 10 years as a general education paraprofessional but left her job early last year to care for Dan's elderly mother before she passed away from Alzheimer's. Wendi has also been suffering from concussion related health issues and was only able to return to work part-time this last school year as a susbsitute teacher. While she has full time employment with Ronan School District beginning in the Fall, Wendi will need to leave the caretaker home within the next few months and will need help setting up other accommodations.
With no other living parents and parental support, any donations are welcome and greatly appreciated as Wendi navigates her new reality and faces future challenges as Dan's widow.
