Marathon for Wem: Dive in and support our Swimming Centre
In 2025, I’ll be taking on the monumental challenge of the London Marathon! This will be my first ever marathon. It holds deep personal significance for me.
I started running in 2022, a year marked by the loss of my oldest brother. In 2023, I faced further devastating loss with the death of another brother. Running became my sanctuary: a way to process my grief, find solace, and honour their memories.
The Healing Power of Exercise
Physical activity, like running, can be a powerful tool in navigating grief, helping to reduce stress hormones, improve mood, and provide a healthy outlet for difficult emotions. The repetitive rhythm of running has offered me a space for reflection and healing.
I'm now taking on the incredible challenge of a marathon to raise funds for the Friends of Wem Swimming Centre.
Why support Friends of Wem Swimming Centre?
This marathon isn't just about the miles; it’s about running for something bigger than myself. I’m passionate about supporting the Friends of Wem Swimming Centre—a vital community resource that provides so much more than just a pool.
Swimming benefits people of all ages. For children, it helps develop physical skills, boosts confidence, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. It’s also a fun way to stay active and make new friends. For adults, swimming is a low-impact exercise that improves cardiovascular health, enhances flexibility, and reduces the risk of chronic illnesses. It’s gentle on the joints and helps maintain mobility and independence.
By supporting my marathon run, you’re contributing to a resource that provides these valuable benefits to the whole community. Your donation will help ensure that the Wem Swimming Centre continues to offer a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Join me on my journey and make a difference today. Every contribution, no matter its size, brings us one step closer to our goal.
Many thanks for your support!
