Dear friends and compassionate strangers,
My sister Vera, a joyful 33-year-old with a zest for life, music, and outdoor adventures, recently encountered an unforeseen challenge. Last Friday, she had her first seizure while working from home. Despite multiple ER visits and routine bloodwork, no immediate treatment was offered. Over the weekend, Vera endured several more seizures, culminating in a severe episode on Sunday night.
Vera tried to schedule appointments with neurologists first thing Monday morning, but all were booked out until November 2024. Desperate for answers, she went to a different ER in Miami that same day. A CT scan revealed a brain mass. Thankfully, it was caught in time, and she’s scheduled for surgery in a few days at a specialized hospital. The doctors are optimistic, and we're confident everything will turn out fine. After the surgery, Vera will not be allowed to drive for 6 months due to the risk of seizures.
Our family has no history of seizures, and everyone has always been healthy. This condition wasn’t shown in her routine blood work, which she does regularly.
However, Vera lost her health coverage last year, leaving her with significant medical expenses. To make things even harder, Vera is far away from home and facing this without her loved ones close by.
We’re reaching out for your support to help raise money to cover Vera’s medical expenses, including her surgery, hospital stay, and post-operative care. Any contribution, big or small, will make a tremendous difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this message is equally valuable. Donations can be made anonymously.
If you prefer other forms of donations e.g. VENMO or PAYPAL or ZELLE, please message me directly.
Vera is not just my sister; she’s my best friend and the light of my life. She’s always worked hard and never asked for anything. We never imagined we’d be in this situation. Your understanding and generosity mean the world to us.
Thank you for helping Vera focus on her recovery.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dasha
