Supporting Trey through his Cancer Treatment

Our name is Chrissy and Pete and we are raising money for our 25-year-old son, Pedro Haro III (Trey). Trey is a caring and loving person. He is an amazing father and has a loving strong bond with his daughter who thinks the world of him. He is the comedian of our family and brings so much happiness to our family. Our family would not be complete without him, he is truly one of a kind.

In January he went to an ER in Dallas as he was experiencing extreme pain from a recent wisdom tooth being pulled. The doctors at the hospital in Dallas were very concerned about his white blood cell count because it was off the charts. Unfortunately, due to hospital overloads from Covid-19, they had to airlift him to Houston for an accurate diagnosis.

While at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the doctors diagnosed him with a rare, aggressive form of "Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia" that requires immediate treatment. Their doctors urged Trey to stay in Houston to continue his intense treatments for 6 months. We are at 6 months and while the cancer is not visible he is waiting on a match for a stem cell transplant which has recently been approved. Finding a match is taking a little longer than what was expected as they are wanting a 100% match, anything less than a 100% can cause problems. His stay in Houston is extended to another four to five months and we are hoping to have Trey home by January.

We are a working-class family and cannot just pick up and move to Houston. We are trying to raise $12,000 to help pay for Trey's upcoming lodging expenses. We are in the process of moving to a safer area, closer to the hospital and a better living environment. Once his transplant is complete he will need a caregiver for the remaining time in Houston.

This is our first time ever asking for support on Go Fund Me. We never thought we'd need to take such a drastic step for asking others for help . Our entire family has been through a lot. Trey and his sister recently lost their mother (Nanette) unexpectedly due to Covid. Nanette has tremendously helped in staying with and supporting Trey over the past few months. Nanette's family and friends have also helped out with logging expenses since the beginning. We have been traveling back and forth to Houston as time allows, taking his 4-year-old daughter, Jackie to spend time with him. It is heartbreaking every time we come home from our visits but we enjoy our short time with him and make sure he has everything he needs until our next visit. We continue to keep in touch with him daily and get Jackie on weekends so they can Face Time with each other, play games and send their virtual hugs and kisses.

Any donation amount at all would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. To get the word out, please consider sharing this link on your Facebook TimeLine, Social Media, etc. Thank you so much for your help and support.
