Supporting Theo in his fight against Leukaemia

Donation protected
Our lovely friend Theo has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia ‘ALL’.

Theo is a happy caring little boy,
who always thinks about others before himself. We have set this page up to help Theo in his time of need.

Only a couple of months ago, Theo’s Mum took him to the GP because he was extremely tired, he was however showing none of the typical symptoms of Leukaemia.

On the first day of the Summer holidays Theo was super brave and had his first ever blood test and later that night was contacted by the GP who said Theo’s blood count was extremely low and needed urgent further investigations.

After 5 very long worrying days of countless blood tests, three bone marrow procedures, lumbar punctures, scans and x-rays at Leeds Children's Hospital, Theo and his family received the utterly devastating news that their rainbow baby had Leukaemia.

Theo being the kind boy he is turned to his parents and told them not to be sad because he’s going to be brave and get better fast.

Within a few of days of Theo’s diagnosis he began phase one of treatment - Induction Chemotherapy. Theo’s treatment plan will be split into two further phases which includes Consolidation Chemotherapy and Maintenance Chemotherapy. In total, the treatment will last at least two years at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

This means Theo and his parents will have to make a 116 mile round trip to hospital for treatment, two to three times a week for at least two years.

Currently there is no financial support to help Theo with travel but Young Lives Vs Cancer Charity are currently campaigning to change this for all children living with cancer (more information on this is below).

Many of us have asked how we can help to support Theo and his family through the next 2 years of his treatment, and we thought setting up this page was one way we could really make a difference.

We will be arranging some Fundraising events over the coming months and posting the link to this page.

Theo continues to want to try and help others and so at his request 20% of any amount raised will go to Candlelighters https://www.candlelighters.org.uk/donate/ who provide practical and emotional support to children fighting cancer in Yorkshire, and have already done so much to help Theo and his family.

We understand that times are incredibly hard for everyone right now, but if you are in a position to donate (even just the cost of your morning coffee), it will make a HUGE difference to Theo.

However, above all else, we ask that you please keep Theo in your thoughts and prayers. And, if you have the time, support the campaign to help families like Theo’s with travel costs for cancer treatments - https://www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/join-our-fight/get-campaigning/travelcosts/

About 85% of cases of childhood leukaemia are ALL and it occurs in about 400 children in the UK each year.

Many thanks,
