Supporting the Thurston Family

Donation protected
We are greatly saddened by the sudden loss of Gary Thurston on January 20, 2022. Gary was a loving and caring man who focused on his family, his faith, and his community. We find ourselves at a loss for words, wanting to reach out and lend a helping hand to his wife Teresa, and family.

With the loss of Gary, Teresa is on her own to continue raising her grandson Cameron on a limited income. You are here because of your desire to share your generosity with the family. Any amount you you are able to contribute to this GoFundMe account will aid in Teresa’s ability to continue to provide Cameron with a bright future in his soccer career as well as college aspirations. Additionally, there are still many medical bills that linger. We hope you will share Gary’s story with your own friends and family finding inspiration in the resilience and kindness he demonstrated in his life.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Tacoma attending Wilson High School. He met his wife, Teresa when they were young teenagers and she has been by his side for over 40 years during which they grew as a family welcoming Jennifer, Lindsey and Brandon into their lives. Family was everything to him and when he and Teresa tragically lost their daughter, Lindsey, and her husband, Sean, they proudly assumed the responsibility of raising their grandson, Cameron, who was 4 years old at the time.

Gary had a love of sports playing football and baseball both playing and coaching over the years. He cherished the relationships made on the field with the boys he coached as well as his fellow coaches. Each and every young man he coached held a special place in his heart.
Gary was a hard worker who enjoyed the physical labor holding positions in various warehouses and operating a small business.

Gary leaned into the joys of his life spending even more time at his church and with his family. His biggest enjoyment in life came from watching Cameron play soccer. He was truly blessed by the many friendships he made with the players, parents and coaches of Colibri and Washington Premier. We will miss his dedication to Cameron’s teams and support he showed all the boys.

More importantly a family will be missing the big love and support they have leaned on for many years. There are many hearts with holes in them from the loss of Gary.

Your financial assistance, in any amount, is greatly appreciated.
