Supporting the Souters

The Souter family is one of the most amazing families out there. They are caring, compassionate, loving and would happily give the shirt off their backs to help anyone they could. The past few years have been filled with many challenges for them and 2022 has definitely brought another challenge their way and the Souter family could use our love.

 

In late January, one of the Souter children had an MRI due to recurring, debilitating headaches. It turns out that the cause of the headaches was a mass in the child's head. They were flown to Vancouver Children's Hospital and the child had brain surgery to remove some of the tumour for biopsy and to help get the fluid flowing properly. Another brain surgery was performed to remove as much of the mass as safely possible.

 

The biopsy results confirmed a papillary tumor of the pineal gland, a tumor so rare that there are only about 30 cases documented in children worldwide.

 

The Souter family have now been referred to a specialist for treatment in the States. They will be there for at least 2 months and, as you can imagine, there are considerable costs for this 2 month move for the family from Prince George to the States. This is where we come in, as friends and family of the Souter family! If you can, please consider contributing to help alleviate some of the financial stresses they will face over the next few months and allow for their family to be able to visit each other and be together during some of the harder days.
