Supporting the Smyth Family

Donation protected
Just turned 5 year old Declan Smyth, in preparation to start kindergarten this fall, went for a routine eye exam this past Monday, July 23 2018. At the end of the appointment he ended up with much more than a simple prescription for corrective lenses - he ended up with the diagnoses of having a growth on his cerebellum. The optometrist noticed his optic nerves were swollen and recommended immediate further testing.  Over the course of a few hours Declan and his family had their day to day life tuned upside down with the news. They have stayed at his side though all the testing, poking and prodding that doctors are known to do, and plan to be at his side until he can come home. As of today we don't have en exact diagnoses, but we do know little Mr. Declan will be spending the next 3 weeks plus at Children's Hospital. He will have a biopsy of the mass completed early next week, which will  allow his team of specialists to provide an exact diagnosis and form his treatment plan once the full pathology results are available, which will take about a week from the date of the biopsy. While we can't make this better for them we can make it easier by lifting some of the financial burden that this unpaid time off from work will cause. Cash donations can be made at Meraki Hair Studio in Beausejour during regular business hours. Updates on Declan's condition will be posted as available, and we all have our fingers crossed for quick recovery.
