Supporting the Serez Family
Donation protected
So many of you have wanted to help since learning of Philip’s ALS diagnosis but have never been entirely sure what you can really do. Keeping in touch, encouraging, praying and finding other ways to support the family have all been amazing. But some of you have wanted to do even more.
This is that time.
The reality is that ALS takes a lot. From the person with it mainly – Philip’s faith in Jesus is unwavering and his positive attitude remains strong but his body is struggling to deal with greater and greater physical challenges – but also from the family’s bank account. As the needs grow, so do the costs. This is not an inexpensive disease.
Thankfully, between insurance and government programs, some of the bills have been covered. Philip and Robyn have expressed again and again how grateful they are for those helps. As they are for an accessible van that was generously given to them. And a ramp built by his brothers.
However, that covers only a portion of what’s required. The total to purchase a proper wheelchair, feeding equipment, a stair glide, lift chair, wedges and railings for bed, and undertake renovations that will add a shower and greater accessibility to the main floor, is rising fast. Soon it’ll hit $25,000. With more to come. It’s daunting.
Here’s where we can help.
If you’ve been friends of Phil and Robyn, worked with them, been neighbours, gone to church together, grown up with either or both, travelled with them, prayed with them, sang with them, ate with them, ministered with them or even simply been drop-kicked off a trampoline by Philip once or twice (this particular list is longer than you might think) this is your chance to make a difference.
With so many other challenges facing them at this time, removing the pressure of financial burdens would be a huge relief and a wonderful gift for a couple – an entire family – that has blessed so many others. Your gift will matter.
We can’t fix everything. But we can help.
