Supporting the Searing Family

I have been a friend of the Searing family for over 40 years. John and Catherine Searing have welcomed many foster children into their home over the years, and have adopted three. Catherine passed away in January, 2023, and John suddenly passed away this past Friday September 8th.



Two of their adopted children, Amy and Danny, are developmentally disabled adults. John and Catherine have always had Amy and Danny in their home, with John driving them to programs and managing their busy schedules.

Now that John is suddenly gone, the Searing family is scrambling to try to keep Amy and Danny in their home as they have taken these losses extremely hard, as you can imagine. Uprooting them now and sending them to live in an emergency placement would be devastating.

Their sister, Ann, has made a promise to take care of Amy and Danny, but she has been suddenly thrust into managing their busy schedules while trying to keep them in their home – which is looking to be an insurmountable financial challenge.



The family could greatly use some financial support if possible, if only to keep Amy and Danny in their home for a while they grieve and prepare for the possibility of living in a residential placement.
