Dear Friends and Family,

I'm reaching out to those of you who may have met and known our longtime part-time helper, Aura Rodezno or her mother Ana, who are both beloved nannies in our community, and whose warmth, love and care have touched many families.

On Sunday, October 5, early in the morning, Aura's brother Juan Jose Rodezno died suddenly in his sleep at the age of 39. While the exact cause is still being determined, undiagnosed health issues likely contributed.

Juan lived with Aura, Aura's son Fernando, and his mother Ana in their 2 bedroom multi-generational household in San Mateo. They were and are a tight-knit family and as you can imagine, are beyond devastated at the unexpected loss of their beloved brother, son and uncle. Aura has always described her brother Juan - younger than her by 10 years - as practically a son to her. This is an exceedingly difficult time for them.

I started this GoFundMe (my first) to help ease just one small part of this challenging time for Aura, Ana and Fernando. While Juan had no direct dependents, as an engineer with FedEx, he was the primary earner in their multi-generational household and contributed a significant part of their living expenses, including rent. Without him in their lives, they face considerable uncertainty around their housing, and anticipate needing to move out of their 2 bedroom apartment in the coming months to seek something more affordable.

My aim with this fundraiser is to raise $3,500, which is one month's rent for them, so they can have some short-term housing stability as they grieve his loss, plan a small memorial and navigate the considerable adjustments in their lives.

Aura described Juan as a very humble man, honest, smart and hard-working - not asking for or needing anything fancy in life, but who was always there to support his sister and mother and nephew. He will be deeply missed.

Any contribution - no matter the size - will make a meaningful difference and will go directly to the Rodezno family.
