Supporting the Rivera Family in Their Time of Tragedy

On Sunday night, our family’s world was turned upside down in the tragic accident on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. Our beloved cousin Brian, who was only 24, was taken from us far too soon. He was innocent in this accident and leaves behind grieving parents, brother, family, and friends who loved him deeply.

Brian stepped in to fill in for a soccer game as a favor to his little brother Chris. They won that game. On their way back that night, already so close to home, a speeding driver drove onto oncoming traffic and straight into them while stopped at a red light. Moments before the collision, Brian took the only initiative he could and quickly repositioned his car so that his drivers side would take the brunt of the hit - saving his brothers life and two friends in the backseat. Brian, tragically and heroically, passed away. Christopher, Fidel and Daniel remain hospitalized.

Brian was truly a good kid — kind, respectful, and full of life. He had a heart of gold and was loved by so many. Whether it was with his family, friends, or community, he always brought joy and light to those around him. He was just months away from fulfilling his dream job and beginning to help provide for his family. His future was so bright, and his loss leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully capture.

His younger brother, Christopher, was also in the car and is currently in critical condition, fighting for his life in the hospital. As our family tries to navigate the unbearable grief of losing one son while holding onto hope for the recovery of another, we are asking for help.

Funds raised will go directly toward:

    •    Funeral and memorial expenses for Brian

    •    Ongoing hospital bills and medical care for Christopher

    •    Supporting the Rivera family as they face this unimaginable hardship.
