Family, friends and co-workers have been reaching out to Lindsay and Ricardo to offer their support in this time of need.
We have come across Go Fund Me. I think this is a way we can help them. It's a family in crisis. Both parents are very ill and we are working with our family and close friends to provide the support that they need.
Lindsay and Ricardo have 3 children, Manny 11, Angeles 6 and Joseph 5.
Ricardo is 34 years old and has a rare heart condition that he has been living with from a young age. Since his diagnosis, Ricardo has had 3 open heart surgeries.
3 weeks ago Ricardo went to his doctor and was immediately instructed to go to emerg at MGH where he was diagnosed with blood infection. He was then taken to TGH where he suffered a massive stroke and has since had brain surgery at TWH. His brain had been bleeding for days. Ricardo has improved, but is still dealing with an anurism on the other side of his brain and is still in hospital with no home date in sight.
Doctors now need to address his heart valve again which will prolong his recovery. He has made great strides but has a long road ahead.
Meanwhile, Lindsay was diagnosed with a rare form of Cushings Syndrome. This disease produces too much cortisol in your body. This has caused tumours on Lindsay's adrenal gland and her pituitary gland. It effects your brain and your hormones and thins your skin and hair. Lindsay is having surgery to remove the adrenal gland on June 11, 2019. Her recovery period will be up to a year. Lindsay and Ricardo will be in the same hospital together.
With the combination of both parents being in the hospital and unable to work, it has put a large financial burden on the whole family.
Update from yesterday: Today, May 29 ,2019 we were just informed that Ricardo will require open heart surgery to replace the mechanical valve that was placed about 3 years ago. He will be having the open heart surgery tomorrow morning at Toronto General Hospital. We are thinking positive thoughts and wishing Ricardo a successful surgery.
We are hoping with your help we are able to get this family through this rough time.
