Hi, my name is Kathy and I am fundraising for Lori. Many of you may already know who Lori is. But, for those who do not, let me share a little bit about my Lori.
Lori has been to me a light that has shine through any darkness in various seasons of my life. She has been a kind voice who has supported me and many others navigate difficult times in life.
I met Lori while I was an undergrad at LMU. In fact, I owe my college degree to her. You see right when I was about to give up due to not being able to pay, Lori came into my life and created a path that lead me to finishing my undergraduate degree. Lori is a case manager (currently), but when we met she was a Housing Director, RA, Student Housing Leader and to be honest the list goes on because she never stops being whatever the students need her to be. Lori commits her life to service. She listens, supports and literally changes your life in one way or another. Lori pours onto anyone's cup that needs it. Lori will answer a phone call, say a prayer, wipe your tears, give you the warmest and most loving hugs if you need it. Writing this brings me to tears because someone who is so monumental with a true heart full of love to always give to students, staff and anyone who crosses her path has undergone one of the most challenging medical journeys a person can probably go through. I am sitting here trying to understand how all this happened to her and I cannot come to a logical answer. I know that Lori is sick and has been sick for some time. As the days pass us by she is doing her best to continue pouring life, strength and love into everyone near her. But the truth is that in the last four years she has been so close to dying and I cannot understand why someone so wonderful who does so much for everyone would go through this.
In 2019 Lori was hospitalized for sepsis and three surgeries at the Cedar Sinai Main Hospital, Lori almost died. When she was released from the hospital, she was sent home with a colostomy bag. She was released with a pic line and several antibiotics, she was l soon transition to a rehabilitation center to relearn to walk again.
January 2020 to August 2022 she was hospitalized a couple of times for infections. CT drain scans with procedure to operate to drain the liquid in her belly and abdominal area. Lori would see at least two doctors a week for follow-up exams and check-in, especially with the colostomy bag. At home she had IV treatments with strong antibiotics to kill the infection in the belly and abdominal area.
On August 2022 she had a reverse surgery for the colostomy bag. She was hospitalized August 2022 to October 2022. Lori was eventually released with a pic line and antibiotic regiment.
In July 2023 to August 2023 Lori was again hospitalized for infections in belly and abdominal area. She was admitted to the California Rehabilitation Center to learn to walk again and gain strength back for August 2023 and September of 2023.
Most recently, Lori was admitted to the hospital January 15, 2024 to January 18, 2024. She was released with IV treatments for home for three weeks with a mid-line.
All I can say is that Lori has fought and continues to do so. With all that she has gone through the medical bills have piled up. I am humbly asking for your help. If you know her, you know she is an extraordinary human being. Lori would never ask anyone for money. However, I humbly do ask that you donate to her. She means so much to all of us. I ask that if you can help you do so. Your donation will help her with ongoing treatment and medical care.
Thank you so much for reading this. I know she appreciates and thanks you for your help.
Thank you so much one more time.
