Donation protected
The nightmare of COVID has hit the Mitchell family hard, leaving Kyle fighting for his life in the ICU on a vent. Kyle is young and he is strong & is in desperate need of our prayers & support. We are asking for any donation that will help His wife and our dear friend Sarah be able to support her family financially during this difficult time.
Latest update from Sarah Mitchell on 11/30/21:
Today was a good day for Kyle and I think we are starting to see progress after all the sequence of events in the past few days. When Kyle was intubated they think that put him into afib. Then the anesthesia was making his blood pressure pretty low and he was still struggling to keep his O2 levels on the ventilator above 85%. They started him on an IV drip to control the heart rate, than a drip to bring his BP up and lots of tweaking on the ventilator. This morning he was doing very well (as well as he could be considering). His heart went back into normal sinus rhythm and it was at a rate within normal range (previously it was in the 150s), his BP was way better and his oxygen level was maintaining in the mid 90s. The last couple chest xrays showed the pneumothorax was closed!!! They placed a central line in his neck for more access sites and a feeding tube. As of now he is still sedated. They said his body was just done fighting. He had been working so hard and fighting for over two weeks now. Now he needed to rest and heal. Earlier they gave him a "sedation vacation" to ask him if he was okay and he shook his head yes and they told him he was doing good and he was okay and he shook his head yes again. They sedated him again to keep him comfortable and resting. This evening I received a call from the nurse (insert heart in my throat), for an update. He said that Kyle was holding strong. His vitals were good and they were able to wean down the ventilator from 100% oxygen to 80% and Kyle's O2 was staying in the high 90s
Prior to this, the nurse set me up with a video visit and I just stared at my husband's poor thin face. I talked to him for 2hrs and reminded him of everyone praying for us and checking on him. I told him about how amazing everyone was and how everyone was helping however they could without a second thought. I talked about random things and 2hrs later I said my goodbye for the day. I headed to the grocery store and to pick up Harper from school. Walking around the store it suddenly hit me. My chest was getting tight and I felt like I was suffocating. Oh jeez why oh why is this happening now??? Insert anxiety attack. I walked around the store fighting back the tears and a breathed in and out deeply trying to get myself through it. As soon as I left the store I broke out in tears, sobbing. I sat in my car and breathed and told myself okay Sarah get your $hit together you already were sobbing walking Harper into school yesterday, you have to stop this and get your daughter from school.
That's when I got the update call from the nurse, Jim. And that's what snapped me back. A little good news is what we need. And we need to keep moving forward from here, all our prayers are working and I pray that things keep moving forward in the right direction. We love you all for all you have done for us in this most difficult time. Keep up the prayers everyone
