Supporting Kat and Lappa on their journey as Julian tackles cancer and they welcome another little Lappa to their beautiful family.
As many of you are now aware Lappa, Kat, Oscar and family have been rocked by the very recent news of Julian having quite progressed stage 3 bowel cancer.
In a time when they should be getting excited and ready to welcome their second son into the world (in less than 5 weeks), their lives have now been uprooted.
They have made an urgent and unexpected exit from Karratha to Perth where they now need to be based for at least the next 9 - 12 months whilst Lappa undergoes further testing , treatment and surgery.
Following a recent PET scan it found more activity than first thought in the lymph nodes, meaning the cancer is not as localised and has spread further than as first diagnosed .
Lappa's treatment is set to include intense chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery for possibly up to 12 months.
This news comes as a shock to us all and I'm sure you have been impacted by this news in some way. Lappa - being the strong, fit, healthy, determined lad he is, surely it would never happen to him! With Kat now 35 weeks pregnant with baby number two due mid December, having to shift her birthing plans, find a new school for Oscar, as they both prepare for the arrival of their second babe, there will be many logistical nightmares, sacrifices and obstacles they will have to make and overcome during the next 12 months.
A lot of Kat and Lappa's wonderful Karratha, Perth and interstate friends feel helpless with not actually being able to “help”.
Financial help is one way in which people can contribute. Whilst the LePlastriers would never expect, nor be offended if people couldn’t help financially, it does enable those who can to be part of the solution if they choose.
Kat and Lappa will be using funds raised to go towards cost of the treatment, surgeries and other related expenses, with any remaining funds being donated to the Bowel Cancer Australia Charity. The screening process for bowel cancer starts at 50 years and there are more and more younger than that being diagnosed so they would like to see that screening age lowered - unfortunately. Lappa is a prime example of that. For more info: Bowelcanceraustralia.org
We all know you've got this Lap! Everyone is sending you, Kat, Oscar and your families all our love and strength x
