Supporting the Kinsleys while they fight Dementia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chelsea. My uncle Pat was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive and terminal illness that affects cognitive function. Despite my Aunt Brandy's best efforts as his sole caregiver while working full-time, we have been unable to secure home care due to various obstacles.
As FTD advances, round-the-clock care becomes essential for the person affected. Unfortunately, despite their single income, Medicaid eligibility remains out of reach.
To ensure Uncle Pat receives proper medical attention; I am reaching out to our community seeking assistance in raising funds via donations or post sharing so he can get enrolled through state programs providing adequate healthcare services!
Here’s some words from Brandy:
First, thank you Chelsea Withey, this is not something I would have ever considered. I'm sorry for even being in this position.
Life is hard, life caring for a loved one with frontal temporal dementia is extremely hard. The changes in the last year have been drastic, Pat has gone from repeating himself a little and small behavior changes to having auditory and visual hallucinations, no longer knowing how to operate the washer and dryer, he doesn't remember family and friends. Most days he doesn't know who I am, just that he loves me and I love him.
He has to be reminded to shower and change his clothes, I give him all his medications. When I go to work I watch him on the security cameras we have at the house.
I love our family but everyone has their own lives and obligations, we just need to get over this hurdle and hopefully get the help we need.
thank you
