Hi, I’ve decided to set this up for my son in law, Travis Duncan and his wife, my daughter, Baylee, as I know they would never do this for themselves ….
As many of you know, Travis is currently admitted in the ICU and fighting for his health.
Everything started about a month ago (around October 14th) with what Travis and Baylee assumed was a nasty deep cough from a seasonal cold. Few days later Travis developed a head to toe rash that lasted off and on for almost a week. His body, along with his whole face, was swollen from the rash. He was rushed to the ER and Epipen’d… they were sent home with no concrete answer as to what the cause was.
Since then, things have kind of just went wild. Travis has had 4 other emergency room visits (one via ambulance after my daughter had to call 911 from their home after finding Travis on the floor in extreme pain) he has been epipen’d a total of 4x. he has had weeks and weeks of hospital stays, he is on 24/7 monitored oxygen, being given various daily tests, (including a 27 total separate blood draws), constant vital monitoring and so much more. He has unfortunately not made improvements and the cause is not yet found.
Right now, he’s on 4 liters of oxygen, has a partially collapsed right lung (atelectasis) , one completely cracked rib, another fractured rib and most recently we all found out, a pleural effusion in the right lung.
He is fighting hard for his health and will continue to do so for… no one knows how long at this point. Doctors are currently testing for things like different types of parasites, asthmas, or rare lung diseases that would be harder to detect and diagnose.
As everyone knows, Travis is an incredible guy, and is the last person who deserves any of this. He was just a healthy, 30 year old just a month ago.
With Travis working in a Union, he doesn’t receive any short term or long term disability while being off work. The only income coming in from the union is a small temporary assistance amount of 15-20% of his normal paycheck.
His wife (my daughter) Baylee, owns a photography business and has been almost completely off work to be with Travis as much as she can since there are a lot of concerning unknowns right now.
The circumstances the past month will create a serious financial burden for Travis and Baylee. Please do not feel obligated, but if you’d like to donate to help ease Travis’ road to recovery, I know we would all greatly appreciate it for them. He is more than deserving in every way and anyone who gets to be a part of his life would agree. You got this Travis!!!
Thank you all, Steve.
