Supporting the Down Syndrome Association (DSA) is incredibly important to me because it supports people who are so often underestimated in society. The DSA helps individuals with Down syndrome build confidence, gain independence, and access meaningful employment support that can make a life-changing difference.

I have always believed in pushing myself mentally and physically, especially when things become uncomfortable. The most important lessons I have learned in life have come through failure. Failure has taught me how badly I want something and the importance of getting back up and trying again, no matter how many times it takes.

This challenge symbolises resilience, perseverance, and the belief that being underestimated does not define what you can achieve. Extreme endurance events like this don’t just test you physically; they test your character and your determination to keep going when things get difficult.

I am supporting the DSA because this charity is close to my heart. One of my biggest supporters in life has been my brother, alongside my parents. My brother has Down syndrome, and it has been incredible to see how capable and independent he has become, holding down a job, working as a gardener, and working in a music shop. Charities like the DSA play a vital role in making opportunities like this possible.

The DSA supports people with Down syndrome throughout their lives, as well as their families, particularly parents who have recently received a diagnosis. They provide expert advice on health, education, communication, and adult support needs, while also offering emotional support when families need it most. The DSA also delivers specialist training to professionals and services, helping ensure people with Down syndrome receive informed, compassionate, and appropriate support.

Funds raised will help support young adults with Down syndrome to gain independence and access meaningful employment, ensuring they are given the opportunities, confidence, and support they deserve.
