Supporting the Cook Family
Imagine yourself married with two beautiful daughters. The girls are doing well in school, are active in sports and Mom and Dad are doing well in their careers. Life is good. Then imagine that you lose your job in May 2020 due to a global pandemic. Three months later in August, your spouse loses their job as well. It’s now March 2021 and both parents are still looking for work, have run through savings and are running out of options. This is the story of Kevin & Sahar Cook and their family. Kevin, Sahar and I all went to High School together in Northern VA so this is very personal for me. Both are kind, generous and hard working; in spite of their difficulties they have done their best to keep life as close to normal as they can. As if living through a pandemic isnt challenging enough for anyone. Through the months they have remained positive, leaning on a strong faith in God. All while constantly looking, interviewing and trying to find additional ways to earn income — Kevin even wrote a book! (The Positivity Shop)
Kevin and Sahar are relatively private about such things and I was only made aware of the extent of their difficulties when Kevin humbly reached out for advice and support.
After a lot of thought, I decided to make it my goal to provide them with the kind financial support that only a community can offer. Whether you know the Cooks or not, the reality is that this could be any ofus. Maybe it was you at some point and you were fortunate enough to move beyond your difficult circumstances and into something new and stable once again. This is my wish for the Cook’s. And this campaign is my way of reminding them that there are many who care and are here for them.
I have set a goal of $5,000 which may be lofty; but sometimes you need to aim high. Especially when money will help a family pay their bills and keep the roof over their heads. Please consider making a donation to help this wonderful family in their time of need. Whether it’s $5, $20, $100 or some other amount....every little bit helps.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!!!
