Hi, my name is Emin, and I’m fundraising to support my long-time close friends Jon and Gester Coney and their beautiful daughter Ellie after their family home was destroyed by a house fire.

In the early hours of the morning at around 6:00am on the 12th of December, their home in Southern River caught fire due to an electrical fault. Jon, Gester, Ellie, and their two cats were all asleep and completely unaware that the fire had already begun to engulf their home.

We are incredibly grateful for the good Samaritans who happened to be driving past, noticed the carport on fire, and immediately stopped to knock on the door. Thanks to their quick actions, the Coney family was woken up in time and managed to escape safely , leaving the house with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbours who came to help in whatever way they could. Whether it was offering water, helping move items that could potentially be salvaged, or simply giving comforting hugs during such a traumatic moment, their kindness and support meant more than words can express.

While the most important thing is that Jon, Gester, Ellie, and their two cats are all safe (aside from some smoke inhalation), the home and everything inside it has been completely ruined. Sadly, the family did not have contents insurance, meaning they have lost absolutely everything with no coverage to help replace it.

This is an unimaginable thing for anyone to go through, especially just before Christmas and the holiday period. The family is currently staying with us while they try to process what has happened and work out their next steps.

We are raising funds to help support the Coney family during this incredibly difficult time ,to assist with immediate living expenses, clothing, essential household items, and to help them begin rebuilding their lives from the ground up. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference and help ease the burden they are facing.
