Supporting the Bourdon's through a tragic accident

It is with heavy, yet grateful hearts, that we inform you of a tragic event that has befallen our loved ones, Brad and Lindsay Bourdon (Blake and Brooke, included).

Yesterday morning, Friday September 13th, Brad was involved in a serious accident, causing his arm to be trapped. Thanks to the quick actions of friends and paramedics, he was taken to Huntsville Hospital, and then airlifted to St Mike’s in Toronto. Brad immediately went into surgery, but the impingement caused too much damage and the surgery was unsuccessful, resulting in the amputation of his left forearm.

We are thankful this wasn’t worse, but this injury is life-altering nonetheless, affecting Brad and his family for years to come. While the hope is that a return to his long-running career as a diesel mechanic in the future is possible, there is a LOT of healing that must happen first, and we are still only learning many of the details (of course, there are discussions happening around prosthesis as well, though when that may happen is still unknown). We all know Brad has a pretty positive demeanour, but the impact of this injury could be profound.

Many are asking how to help, and if a financial contribution is possible, this is the quickest and easiest way to help the Bourdon’s in this moment- accommodation, gas, therapy, supplies, groceries, doggy daycare, and helping to offset the loss of income will be the most beneficial.

Everyone who knows Brad knows he is reliable and always first in line to help out when anyone is in need- building a deck, shovelling a roof, rotating tires, moving a couch, serving a drink, clearing a plate, assisting on the soccer pitch… most anything you ask! We all want to help Brad get back to his happy place- relaxing at the camper with the dogs and the kids, snuggling up to Lindsay at the campfire, puttering around the house, torquing a wrench.
