With a heavy heart, we ask for your support for Troy, Sue and Addison throughout this time.
New Year’s Eve began as expected. But as 2026 arrived, our lives were forever changed. We lost our pocket of sunshine, our miracle, and our purpose. Taya Alta May Arnold was just 17 years old.
Taya entered this world with every odd stacked against her. Before her earthside arrival, professionals spoke words no parent should ever have to hear. Words rooted in fear, uncertainty, and limitation. But Taya’s spirit was louder. From the very beginning, she fought to be here, and that same strength carried her through her life. This radiated through to her friends, family and throughout her community.
Taya was remarkable in ways that cannot be measured by age. She had a deep passion for sports and fitness and approached everything she did with discipline, dedication, and determination. As a member of the U19A R.I.S.E ringette squad, she worked hard, not for attention or recognition, but because she believed in showing up as the best version of herself.
More than anything, Taya was a light to others. She loved her family and friends fiercely, and her compassion and inclusive spirit made people feel seen, safe, and valued. She had a natural way of lifting others up and helping them feel like they belonged. She believed in equality, fairness, and standing up for what was right, even when it was difficult.
Taya dreamed of following in the footsteps of her grandfather and others she admired. She wanted to become a police officer so she could protect others and make a real difference. Anyone who knew her understands how natural this calling was. She was drawn to people and led with empathy, integrity, and a strong sense of right and wrong.
She was young, far too young. Yet her impact was lasting.
As Taya’s family faces the unimaginable loss of their beloved daughter and older sister, they are also dealing with significant and unexpected financial strain. Both of her parents are self-employed, so this sudden tragedy has created added challenges during an already devastating time. This GoFundMe has been created on behalf of the Arnold-Pillings to help ease that burden and cover funeral related expenses, lost income, and other immediate needs, allowing the family space to grieve and begin healing.
Any support means more than words can express. Donations, sharing this page, or simply keeping the family in your thoughts all help during this difficult time.
Though her time here was far too short, Taya’s love, strength, and spirit will live on through everyone who knew her and loved her.
Thank you for supporting and honoring Taya Alta May Arnold.
